The 2018 3 Series' most potent engine is a 320-hp, 330 lb-ft of torque, turbocharged 3.0-liter inline 6-cylinder under the 340i's hood. It travels 14 miles on electric mode, and EPA estimates it to drive for 71 miles on combined mode and 30 miles when using the combustion engine. The plug-in 330e iPerformance sedan mates a turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder unit with a lithium-ion battery-powered electric motor to cough out a class-topping 248 hp and 310 lb-ft of torque. Despite the extra muscle, the effect on fuel consumption is almost negligible. The 330i is home to a 2.0-liter turbo 4-cylinder engine worth an impressive 248 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque. The 328d, the 330i, and the 330e add LED headlights, paddle shifters, power front sports seats, auto-dimming mirrors, heated power side mirrors, split-folding rear seatbacks and driver-seat memory settings. Tech equipment consists of BMW Assist emergency telematics, the iDrive infotainment interface with Bluetooth connectivity, a nine-speaker sound system and a 6.5-inch display. Complementary feature highlights in the 320i include remote locking, 17-inch wheels, push-to-start button, premium vinyl upholstery, automatic wipers and dual-zone automatic climate control. The wagon comes in xDrive versions of the 328d and 330i. AWD (called xDrive) is standard on the Hybrid but optional in other models which employ a rear-wheel drivetrain.
